The Drum Base Story
Hi, I'm Alex Biggs, and I'm a professional drummer, teacher, producer, and author. I started playing drums when I was 11 and quickly realised it would be a lifelong passion. Today, I'm the founder of Drum Base, where I share my love for drumming with students of all ages and skill levels.
Learning an instrument can feel like a big challenge, but I'm here to provide the encouragement, techniques, and tips you need to take your drumming to the next level. I've played in a wide range of bands—from punk and indie to fusion and big bands—which has given me an extensive repertoire of styles. Whatever kind of music you're into, I can help you master it.
Over the past 15 years, I've taught countless students and discovered the most effective methods for learning drums. This experience inspired me to write a five-book series, Drums by Alex Biggs. I'm proud that these books are used by students and teachers worldwide and that Rhythm Magazine called them "A Superior Product."
In addition to teaching, I've toured, recorded drum loops and session work, and co-written and produced two albums. I also co-wrote songs for the published book, Ukulele School, by Paul Mansell.
I'm also thrilled to offer professional drum recording through my studio, which specialises in immersive Atmos drum recording. My goal is to help drummers and solo artists capture their sound with the highest professional quality.
