Unlock True Sonic Depth for Your Tracks
Music often begins with the drums – the foundation, the heartbeat. In today's evolving audio landscape, immersive sound is paramount. If you're mixing in Atmos, doesn't it make sense to capture that crucial foundation with the spatial depth and realism it deserves right from the start?
What is Atmos Drum Recording?
Step into the future of audio production. At my studio, I offer specialised Atmos drum recording, capturing the drums not just in stereo, but in breathtaking immersive audio. This technique utilises a detailed multi-microphone setup to record the direct sound, height information, and room ambience necessary for a compelling Atmos mix. Future-proof your music and ensure it translates powerfully, whether listened to on headphones or full spatial audio systems.
Advanced Recording Technique
I employ a meticulous approach using 22 microphones to capture every nuance:

-
Detailed Close Mics: 12 high-quality microphones focus on the punch, attack, and individual character of each drum and cymbal.
-
Immersive Overheads: I adapt advanced recording techniques like PCMA 3D, using vertically positioned microphone arrays (including downward-facing cardioids and upward-facing mics) to capture realistic height and spatial information for the overheads.
-
Premium Microphones: I utilise premium brands of microphones, known for their consistent tonality across different microphone patterns and their portability, ensuring sonic coherence and efficient setup.
-
Dedicated Room Capture: 6 specially placed microphones capture the natural ambience and immersive quality of the recording space, adding essential depth to the mix.
-
Flexibility & Compatibility: My setup offers significant flexibility, allowing for creative blending of microphone signals and ensuring excellent compatibility for standard stereo or mono downmixes.
